ALL CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO NATURE TO EXPLORE LEARN AND ENJOY THE OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENT
THE EYES OF NATURE PROJECT
MASK MAKING ACTIVITY
The Eyes of Nature Project has been designed to specifically to motivate children to identify better with their environment.
We are currently putting up wooden masks on some trees in a specific area of the Estate to encourage children to see further than just a tree. The idea is to appropriate a character to different trees that the children can spot.
The Eyes of Nature project can be used for a whole range of outdoor activities for children and we welcome schools and youth, play groups to come and join it.
Our community hut can be used for children to use to paint and design masks (Paper Plate approach) after they have decided which tree most suits their own character. A collection of leaves to be used in the mask making and other tree elements such as nuts, twigs etc will help the children gain an understanding of the the species. The end of session will allow children to fix their mask to the their tree before going home.
