The Pendarves Estate boasts many 18 century hydrology systems. Specifically cut out waterways which cross over the old carriageways. These were accomplished through well-built Leats. However, a great deal of the estate was mismanaged for over 100 years and leats became overgrown and blocked; creating for flooding on an annual basis.

One such leat was in the heart of the Estate, The Estate Management Team decided that the reparations were a priority as the water runoff and flooding was both a danger to visitors and dogs but was also stripping the top layer off the old carriageway. So late in 2014 work was carried out with the blessing of the environment agency.
